Health, Sexuality & Your Maturing Child with Special Needs

eXL introduces a unique approach to helping families develop effective communication around the topics of health and sexuality.

Parents often tell us that it is difficult to:

• get their pre-teens and teens to maintain healthy eating habits without constant monitoring
• get their pre-teens and teens to wash independently
• discuss dating
• discuss sex, sexuality, masturbation

The 3-session eXL Health & Sexuality workshops are led by 2 facilitators, in 2 separate rooms. In one room, parent participants will explore a variety of topics in health and sexuality, with an emphasis on facts, feelings and strategies. In a separate room, pre-teens and teens will discuss the same issues, but in a manner suited to their needs. The 2 groups will come together at the end of each session to review the material and to receive the week's topic(s) of discussion.

Parents may participate in the workshops without their children. Children must enroll with a parent or guardian.

Managing Your Child's Challenging Behaviours

This 2-week workshop is ideal for parents who want to better understand their child's challenging behaviours and who want effective strategies to problem solve around those behaviours.
